Extruding Department

The extrusion crew first checks the Shop Order to identify the pin and die needed on the extruder.   The pin and die are necessary to form the raw rubber into the extruded tubular shape.   The pin determines the raw inside diameter (I.D.) and the die determines the raw outside diameter (O.D.).

The crew then attaches the pin and die (checking to ensure the pin is on center).   Once the pin and die are set, they start extruding the tubes to the required raw dimensions.

Throughout the run, the tube dimensions are sampled to verify that the order is running within spec.

The extruded raw rubber tubes are then taken to curing to be vulcanized.
